The Ripple Effect
This summer has been one of incredible healing and insight into the lasting effects of what we do as a ministry. During our time on the field, we have seen, time and time again, the ripple effect that takes hold when someone reaches out and prays for One More. This is the story of someone who came into an outreach not looking for help but for the people who prayed for her 8 years ago.
8 years before, a woman arrived at our mission heavy with grief. For years she and her husband had longed for a child. They had spent their life savings on treatments, endured many disappointments, and had run out of hope. That day, she came into our outreach, and hearing her sorrow, our team gathered around her and prayed. Connie was there, doing what she had done thousands of times before over the years—pointing people to the One who still works miracles.
There was nothing extraordinary about the moment. No fanfare. Just a simple prayer offered in faith. But one month later, everything changed. After years of unanswered longing, she discovered she was pregnant.
Then this summer, she, as a member of the church, returned to the outreach that changed everything for her. She wasn't carrying the weight of disappointment. Instead, she was holding the hand of the beautiful eight-year-old son she had once only dreamt of meeting. With tears in her eyes, she thanked our team, looked for Connie, and in a bittersweet moment rejoiced in knowing that she would again someday see the woman that prayed for her.
Connie never met the little boy whose life became the answer to that prayer. By the time this mother returned with her son, Connie had already gone home to be with the Lord. Yet that is the beautiful thing about a life surrendered to Christ—its harvest continues long after the sower is gone, leaving a ripple expanding into the lives of One More.
